				 Robert M. Grant, Jr., was born March 7, 1949 in Statesville, 
                Iredell County, North Carolina. A graduate of Alexander County, 
                North Carolina schools, he received a Bachelor of Arts in 
                History from Wake Forest University
				in 1971 and his 
                Doctorate Degree from the 
				Wake Forest School of Law
				in 1974. From 1974-1978, Mr. Grant was an Assistant District Attorney 
				for the Twenty-Fifth Judicial District, State of North Carolina, 
				encompassing Burke, Caldwell and Catawba Counties. In that 
				capacity, Mr. Grant prosecuted felony and misdemeanor criminal 
				cases in the Superior and District Courts. Notable criminal 
				prosecutions included First Degree Murder, Arson, Rape, Armed 
				Robbery, Embezzlement, Forgery and Uttering, Burglary, and other 
				crimes of violence, white collar crimes and property crimes. 
				During this time, only one felony prosecution in which Mr. Grant 
				was involved concluded with a "Not Guilty" verdict, the 
				Defendant being convicted in all other felony prosecutions. Mr. 
				Grant was an instructor at the "New Prosecutors School" 
				conducted by the Institute of Government, University of North 
				Carolina at Chapel Hill for the 1978-1979 training sessions 
				conducted for newly appointed assistant district attorneys in 
				North Carolina. From 1979-2007, Mr. Grant was a member of the law firm of 
				Corne, Corne & Grant of Newton, Catawba County, North Carolina. 
				Mr. Grant became a principal in the firm in 1983. From 1979 
				until the present, Mr. Grant has represented clients in a 
				variety of legal matters, with emphasis in personal injury, 
				medical malpractice, civil litigation, municipal or governmental 
				law including matters of land condemnation, and appearing before 
				governmental boards on behalf of clients, family law, real 
				estate law, and selected cases of criminal defense. A majority 
				of Mr. Grant's time has been spent in the areas of personal 
				injury, medical malpractice, general civil litigation and 
				municipal law since 1985. Mr. Grant has served as trial counsel 
				for the victim in a variety of personal injury and medical 
				malpractice cases including instances of wrongful death, 
				traumatic child birth, traumatic brain injury, ankle replacement 
				surgery, quadriplegia, paraplegia, pedestrian death and many 
				motor vehicle collisions involving personal injury or death. A 
				small portion of Mr. Grant's practice has involved defense of 
				selected criminal cases. In this regard, Mr. Grant has served as 
				lead defense counsel in criminal cases of First Degree Murder, 
				Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Vehicle Indictment 
				against an active duty law enforcement officer, Narcotics 
				Trafficking, Perjury, Possession of Firearm by Felon, Negligent 
				Sale and Handling of a Firearm, and a variety of other criminal 
				cases. Mr. Grant has served as City Attorney for the City of 
				Claremont, a municipality in Catawba County, North Carolina, 
				having one of the largest industrial tax bases for a 
				municipality of similar size (1,000-2,499) in the United States. 
				In this regard, Mr. Grant advises the City of Claremont in legal 
				matters of governmental regulation, zoning and land use 
				planning, personnel, right of way acquisition and all other 
				legal matters involving the City. In this regard, Mr. Grant has 
				represented the City in discrimination litigation filed against 
				the City. Mr. Grant has also served as interim City Attorney for 
				the City of Newton, North Carolina, a municipality of 
				10,000-15,000, also in Catawba County. Mr. Grant is available 
				for consultation and/or representation in other municipal or 
				governmental law matters not involving the City of Claremont. Mr. Grant also does Estate Planning for clients interested in 
				Wills, Powers of Attorney, Health Care Powers of Attorney, and 
				Wills and/or Trusts involving estate planning for clients. Mr. Grant is a member of the Catawba County, Twenty-Fifth 
				District, and 
				North Carolina Bar Associations. He is also a member of the 
				North Carolina State Bar, the 
				Association 
				of Trial Lawyers of America ,the
				North Carolina 
				Academy of Trial Lawyers, and the Brain Injury Association. 
				He is licensed and has appeared in the trial and appellate 
				courts of the State of North Carolina, including the North 
				Carolina Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, and in the United 
				States District Court for each of the three (Eastern, Middle and 
				Western) Districts of North Carolina, and has also appeared 
				before the United States District Court for the Eastern District 
				of Tennessee. Mr. Grant has spoken at a Motor Vehicle Law Seminar sponsored 
				by the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers on the topic of 
				Proving Negligence, presenting a paper Negligence! How Do I 
				Prove Thee? Let Me Count the Ways. He has also instructed 
				paralegal classes through Central Piedmont Community College and 
				Catawba Valley Community College on course topics of Torts, 
				Domestic Relations Law, Evidence, and Trial Preparation, and has 
				spoken on multiple occasions to classes of dental hygienists on 
				legal implications of dental hygiene. Civic activities have included First Baptist Church of 
				Hickory, foreign mission work with North Carolina Baptist Men, 
				the Hickory Lions Club, service on the Board of Directors for 
				the Catawba County Sheltered Workshop (an agency for employment 
				of disabled individuals) and the Catawba County Council on 
				Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, and as volunteer coach for the 
				Carolina Express, a 17 and Under American Athletic Union Mens
